Hi everyone! We wanted to inform you that starting today, which also happens to be Guatemala’s official “Kids’ Day”, we are launching our first ever backpack campaign! Our intent is to raise funds over the next three months before school starts in Guatemala to help with the cost of getting our families’ kids in school. You may not know it yet, but 80% of all school costs for the year are due in January, the beginning of the school year. Things such as school registration, uniforms, school supplies, other paperwork that is sometimes needed as well as the first month of tuition must be paid by the end of January for a child to be able to attend school for the year. This is why many families struggle to send their children to a good school because they cannot afford these costs up front. Some families even take out high interest loans just to get their kids enrolled and then work the rest of the year to pay it off!
Even though you are already an integral part of Serving At Risk Families, we would like to encourage you to share this need with everyone you know: friends, family, coworkers, church friends, or anyone else you meet! We have created a public page on the mySARF site that can be shared with the world. It even has a link where you can download and print out a flyer to hang up or pass around! These kids need your help, so please don’t hesitate to spread the word. Here is the link you can share with your friends: http://bit.ly/SARFbp
As always, if you have any technical issues or questions, feel free to reply to this email!
