Chuz hasn’t had much work at the concrete factory where he works. Angelica, who had been making tortillas with a friend of hers, is no longer doing so because there was too much competition in the area and her friend decided to quit. So, they are back to searching for odd jobs for work.

We encouraged Angelica to try to take some courses that the local municipality sponsors to take some kind of classes or training to help her be able to start her own little business or get hired somewhere that is offering positions. She hasn’t decided on any yet, but she wants to continue doing something with cooking. To help, we will be giving her the used grill we have with the ministry and also helping to purchase her startup necessities to get her business going.

Jeremias is enjoying being back in school. We weren’t sure how it would go, given it is a public school, but his teacher seems very organized this year so we are hopeful and so is he! He will be attending 6th grade this year and is looking forward to graduating primary school. Each level of accomplishment is very celebrated in Guatemala as it takes a lot for students to get there, even just graduation 6th grade. We kept him in the public school this year because he didn’t want to leave all his friends. As a team, we will have to evaluate along with the family if it would be beneficial to get him in a private school next year, although going into 7th grade is very tough, it will be even more of a challenge for him to transition from public school to private school where they are more strict and there is more expected of him.

A quick thank you from Angelica and Jeremias!
