One huge thing you will learn about Apolonia as you get to know her is that her biggest priority is making sure her three little girls receive a full education so they do not get stuck in the same position she is in: a single parent with little to no formal education.  Apolonia’s biggest life problem is that she is illiterate and therefore struggles to find and maintain enough work to support her own family. Jenifer, Silvia, and Ana have thus developed a strong desire to succeed in school and their grades show it!

Jenifer’s school, we learned, has 5 bimesters throughout the school year (as opposed to about 3-4 like most schools.  We can already see her improvements from the first two months of school!

Silvia is also excelling in school and in fact has received two awards for being the best of her class in English!  She is always trying to practice her English when we visit.

Ana is doing well in school as well, although she is struggling a little with English.  Silvia, however plans to help her little sister get better!
