We visited with Carmen and she explained more to us about the situation at home with Jorge. He continues to drink but hasn’t been as abusive to her as before. He doesn’t want to go to jail and she has been holding it over his head whenever he starts to get disrespectful. But, she is tired of dealing with him. He might not talk mean to her as much, but he still takes her stuff, the food she buys for herself or the kids, and there have been parts of her room missing that Jorge will sell for a few dollars just to get more alcohol. She even mentioned that he has people coming by the house to ask him to go work but he sends them away saying, “my mom takes care of me, I don’t need any money today.”

It’s been really difficult to hear of Carmen’s suffering. We asked why she wouldn’t just call and have him removed from the house but she said she lost the paper that she had with the number to call in reference to her case against Jorge. She thinks Brandon found it and did something with it so she couldn’t have Jorge sent away. She understands how much he loves his dad, but it has put her in a place where she feels hopeless again. We told her we can help her do what is necessary to have him removed from the house and she said she would really appreciate the help because she isn’t at peace in her home. Things go missing or get broken and Jorge just does what he wants without contributing. She needs things replaced or fixed in her home but can’t get anything done because Jorge will just ruin it again.
