In our last update for Olga and her family we shared about some struggles that they were having. Olga and her husband Elias were dealing with some marital issues and since have started meeting every 2 weeks with one of our missionary couples to help work through some of these issues and Olga shared with us the other day that things are going better between them. Praise Jesus for this blessing!
Elias is doing well in his new job and though it is long hours he is thankful for the job. Olga is still without permanent work but has had the opportunity to cook for the last 2 SARF teams that came in June and July so this has been a great help for the family!
In our last post Olga had just received news from Honduras that her mom was in the hospital with pneumonia, that her nephew had broken his leg, and her family was continually asking her to help out financially. Praise the Lord her mother is doing better but Olga has not heard anything about her nephew. She is hoping to visit Honduras in early August so that she can see her family and because she has to renew her passport. She asked that we would all be praying that God would provide for her to make this trip.
The kids had a rough bimester in school and they all failed several classes when we received their grades last month. The reason they failed was because they did not turn in their homework so some of our missionaries had a family meeting to see how we can get them back on track with their homework and the kids said they were going to start doing what was necessary and getting help when needed. The other day we visited their school and we were told that Beverly is doing better but Kesler and Byron are continuing to slack off in class and not turn in their homework. Olga had a stern talk with them and told them that if they are not going to appreciate and properly use the blessing they have been given of a scholarship to go to school then they aren’t going to study next year. She shared with them how hard it is to not have a good education and how limited she is in work because she only has a 2nd grade education and how she wants better for them. Please pray for the kids to start doing their part and putting their best effort in to school.
While we’re on the subject of school we wanted to share that Olga and Elias are researching how Olga can go back to school in January to finish her education. She wants to finish her education and eventually study to work on an ambulance crew. She is very excited about this and told her children that if they don’t use their school scholarship wisely she’s going to use it. 🙂
Please continue to pray for this family and for the Lord to continue to work in their lives and grow them in relationship with Him.
Thank you for all of your love, prayers, and support for this family!
