While Dayana and her family have moved to the city for Dayana to obtain better work, we have been in contact with her and she recently reached out to us for this urgent need for Estuardo.  Instead of telling you the story ourselves, below we have received the message directly from Dayana.

I hope this letter finds you well. The reason of my message is a delicate matter, and I know that there is a bond of friendship that unites us.

Since August, my son Estuardo has been struggling with his health, and it is psychological. He had an motorcycle accident this past June, and in July he became delusional. I took him to the hospital and they did a CT-Scan. Praise God everything came out clear.

In August he was not able to go to school anymore, because he started feeling like he was being followed, so I took him to a psychologist. He needed to go to therapy sessions, but he resisted to go. The psychologist recommended that I take him to the Psychiatrist. We went there and the diagnostic was that he was bipolar, because his neurotransmitters are not working at their full capacity. Sadly, he has not been taking his medications the way he is supposed to and it pains me to share the following, but he attempted suicide. We were able to find him right on time, praise God. Andre, my other son, my dad and an angel (in the form of a person that God sent) were able to stop him. When I arrived with the cops, my son was still up there on the pedestrian bridge and I could only cry out to God that he wouldn’t do it. God worked a miracle for me. I’m grateful that he still alive and that his live will be used as a testimony to others.

The reason to tell about this tragic first part is that in Guatemala, the national rehab center is in dire conditions, and due to the emergency since it was 2am, I took my son to a private hospital. This is very difficult for me, and this is a plea for economical help. Every day is Q 1500 and the doctor says that he is making improvements, but he has to leave this place next Monday 9th because of the expensive treatment, but my son needs help. The doctor would prefer him to stay until Tuesday, September 10, meaning he will have stayed there a total of 8 nights. At Q1500 a night, that means Tuesday I will need to pay a bill totaling Q12,000 ($1,715). I understand that we all have our own financial struggles, but I’m asking you out of the goodness of your heart, to help gather this money. When he comes home from the hospital, he will need to continue the treatment at home. I do not know at this moment what that treatment will cost, but I can keep you informed as we go forward. My son has been walking through this situation for a month, and I’ve been there with him. I haven’t slept due to the fact that he has insomnia and delusion of persecution.

With all my heart I’m asking your help, with what might be possible to help me be able to gather the funds. I believe that God is going to raise him up and take him out of this place as a new person, to be able to give testimony to others of Gods power and love.

Thank you for your friendship and trust that has been built over the years. I ask that you do not ignore this request, but consider helping us financially through this difficult situation and pray for all of us as well. May God bless you.
