Yesterday Olga informed us that she along with her two boys, Kesler and Byron, are waiting in Guatemala’s Child and Protective services agency to see a judge. She told us that the day before, through the national school registry, the government identified and requested the presence of both the boys as a result of a report that Olga filed 8 years ago when she was trying to find them after being rescued from the church. She was filing for custody from their father when she filed the report. She couldn’t find where they were so they put out what is similar to an Amber Alert.
Apparently the case was never closed and now they asked for theirs and Olga’s presence before a judge to close the case. From what she told us, the boys will undergo a psychological evaluation to see how they are doing. Olga has not been able to see them for the past 24 hours since she voluntarily brought them in. She has been in a waiting room while they have been sequestered in a separate room in the building. She said she bought them some games to help keep them occupied while they all wait.
She asked us to pray for her and the boys as this has brought up a lot of old memories and situations from her past that she would rather not rehash. She is also concerned because as part of the problem with her being illegally transported to Guatemala from Honduras is that her kids on paper are part of her sister’s family, not hers. With helping her to get her residency properly sorted out, the next step is to get her kids’ names registered properly as her own children.
“I know the enemy is trying to use this against me,” she says. “But I will continue trusting in the Lord to see me through.”
