When we visited with Maribel and Fidel recently we were talking with them about how things have been going and were surprised by some changes in their family.

Maribel began telling us that Juan just moved out of the house. He has been working at a local factory pretty steadily the past few months and met a girl there that he really likes. She had been coming to pick him up before work and drop him off. Juan then started telling them that he began dating her and the next thing they know, he is packing up all of his stuff and leaving! He went to go live with her. Maribel asked, “are you sure you know what you are doing? Have you thought about this thoroughly?” He said he had and so he went. They are concerned for him that if things don’t work out, he won’t have anywhere to go. He is in his 20s and a grown man but hasn’t shown a whole lot of responsibility as of late. In passing through the story, Maribel mentioned, “as soon as one leaves, another comes in. Now that Vilma is back living with us again.”

After being gone for 3 months, Vilma came back to love with Fidel and the family. She had been living with her boyfriend and his family and according to Maribel, things had gotten bad and the whole family was very controlling and abusive. They even told her that her family wouldn’t take her back because of how she left. Her cousins got in touch with her recently through social media and Vilma asked if she would be accepted back into the family if she came back and they said, “of course!” Please pray that God continues to work in this situation and continues to restore their relationship as a family. Unfortunately, she was working when we visited so didn’t get a chance to see her.

Cristal is enjoying her first year of school in preparatory class. She has classes online from her teacher through the phone and then they have to go get pages printed of what gets sent through messages. She was showing off some of her class projects to us.

We also learned that Paola and Karla came back to live with them because they didn’t get along very well with their mom’s boyfriend. They had gone to be with their mom to help her through her pregnancy but the baby died from something that affected her brain. Afterward, their mom fell into a depression and they wanted to be there for her but decided it wasn’t a good environment for them. They still visit every couple of weeks and their mom is getting therapy to help her through her depression.

It was great being able to visit with the family and check in on them to see that they continue to rely on God and praise Him for His provisions.
