Jeremiah is loving school! He did really well in his first bimester and got passing grades! He struggles a bit with social studies and math, but that is actually quite common in Guatemala. His increased interest in not only attending school but also applying himself well we praise God for and also thank one of his sponsors, who has written him a few letters of encouragement and also visited during our trips. It is hard for us to sometimes comprehend it in our context, but having “strangers” go to Guatemala, visit, and take a real interest in the success of others has an impact we can’t fully understand in the US. It makes a huge difference!

However, success is not without its difficulties. Last month, Jeremiah noticed some men following him as he walked to and from school and he even told Angelica that he was receiving threats against his life. He asked his mom if they could move to Jutiapa, where they have family. She asked that we would pray for his protection!
Additionally, Angelica’s daughter is pregnant again and without a job. She asks for prayer for health and also provision.
When we were visiting this family in February, we were asking Chus about his job, knowing that he got hired by a different concrete company last year. He showed us a video of what he does now: operating an electric cart that transports materials for block making. It is MUCH easier on his body for sure, and pays better! He is extremely satisfied with this work and we continue to pray that he can maintain it.
